Our History
It all began with Don Cornelio Raygoza, who planted not only agave plants, but also a passion that became a legacy. His son, Don Leocadio “Don Cayo” Raygoza, took up the mantle alongside his wife, Ma. Mercedes Sánchez, establishing the second generation of agave growers. Don Cayo perfected the selection of agave varieties, initiating a lineage that continues to this day with plants descended from those first selections.
Today, the descendants of Don Leocadio Raygoza have elevated that legacy to the next level, founding Compañía Tequilera Don Cayo, the distillery that
represents the perfect balance between tradition and innovation, between respect for the land and a passion for creating authentic tequilas with identity and soul. A tribute to the man who gave us our beginnings.
Raygoza Origen was born as a homage to Don Cornelio Raygoza and the heritage that gave us life. Inspired by a 1950 archival photograph from the Casasola collection, this tequila encapsulates history, fire, wood, and soul.
